ŠK Slovan Bratislava is the most successful Slovak football club and the only club from former Czechoslovakia, who won in prestigious European competition. Sky-blues are writing their history since 1919 and will celebrate 100 years of existence soon. ŠK Slovan is proudly presenting with sky-blue club color, which is combined with white elements. Sky-blues, how is their nickname, are brand, which made fame of Bratislava and Slovakia also abroad. During rich history, Slovan won 24 titles and have no concurrence in this statistic in Slovakia. Slovan won eight trophies during federal country Czechoslovakia (1949, 1950, 1951, 1955, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1992). Last federal trophy was celebrated by 40 000 spectators. League games against Sparta Prague, Slavia Prague or Spartak Trnava were watched by full audience at Tehelné pole. After dividing of Czechoslovakia, Slovan is dominating in home competition and won 16 titles in Slovakia totally. Eight of them during II. world war and eight after formation of Slovak republic (1994, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014). Slovan won its biggest success at 21st May 1969 in Basel, Switzerland. Slovan won in final of Cup of winners cup, former competition of Europa league 3:2 against FC Barcelona. Goals were scored by Cvetler, Hrivnák and Jozef Čapkovič. ŠK Slovan Bratislava is the most prestigious Slovak football brand and is in the lead of home club´ s ranking. In Slovan, there was born many great football players, e.g. Ján Popluhár, Karol Jokl, Koloman Gögh, brothers Čapkovič, Ján Švehlík, Anton Ondruš, Marián Masný or Peter Dubovský. From current Slovak represents, in Slovan played personalities like Marek Hamšík or Róbert Mak.
