Originally signed as an interims solution, Hansi Flick became a treble winner. A season that appeared to go wrong in so many ways became one of the best in Bayern Munich's history. Flick has been in charge for exactly one year now and has an unprecedented record. No other coach who has been in charge of at least 25 Bundesliga games has a better points-per-game average than the former assistant of Bundestrainer Joachim Löw.

Flick has averaged 2.63 points per game since he was promoted on Nov. 3, 2019. Born in Heidelberg, Flick replaced former coach Niko Kovac after Bayern's historic 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt. It is not just his statistics that stand out. In conversation with Transfermarkt, players pointed out Flick's ability to guide players; his personal conversations made every member feel important. "He captures you," Manuel Neuer said to Transfermarkt in the fall after Bayern's 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. “He is a people catcher [a bit like Klopp]. “I have worked with him since 2009; he gives us confidence.”

Flick, who often clashes with the director of sport Hasan Salihamidžić when it comes to transfer decisions, was given a contract until 2023 in April. Overall, the club has been happy with its decision. That has not changed—internationally, Bayern are the most in-form team over the last 20 games, ahead of Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Highest points per game average: Heynckes 13th, Klinsmann ahead of Nagelsmann

Historically, Flick is far ahead of his predecessors Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti in the Bundesliga rankings. Jupp Heynckes, who was in charge of 668 Bundesliga games, has an average of 1.78 points per game but, aside from Bayern, was also in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Schalke, and Eintracht Frankfurt—he ranks ahead of Jürgen Klinsmann and Lucien Favre

Under the most successful coaches that have been in charge of at least 25 games are not just former Bayern managers but also a few with a past in Hamburg and Stuttgart. Including Flick, five current Bundesliga coaches have made the top 25
