New York Red Bulls have not extended the loan deal for winger Josh Sims. Originally acquired on loan last season as a Young Designated Player, Sims made a total of nine appearances in regular Major League Soccer play. The winger will now return to Southampton.
Sporting director Denis Hamlett noted Sims' desire to return to England. “In light of the ongoing effects of the global pandemic and all of the uncertainties that remain, we understand Josh’s wishes to be closer to home and have come to an agreement with Southampton to recall the player,” Hamlett said in a club statement.
