Parma announce Zirkzee transfer - Pellè set to follow Bayern Munich striker

After the contract was already registered with Lega Serie A, Parma have now announced the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bayern Munich themselves. Club investor and president Kyle Krause posted a photo of the 19-year-old striker’s signature on Twitter. The Dutch youth international moves on loan from the German record titleholders to the northern Italians, who have an option to buy if they avoid relegation, which, according to consistent media reports, amounts to €15 million.

“It took a while, but I’m happy that it has worked out now. I believe that I will get the chance to develop here. I hope I can help the team,” Zirkzee had already told Sport Bild ahead of his departure to Italy. Zirkzee has played for Bayern Munich since 2017, and his contract still runs until June 30, 2023. Currently, he is hardly used in the Bundesliga and also made just four appearances for the reserve side in the third tier. A possible loan to gain match experience already failed last year, when 1. FC Köln offered to sign the Dutchman.

At Parma, he currently has competition in the centre of attack from Ivorian Gervinho, Dane Andreas Cornelius and Italian Roberto Inglese – although the latter are injury-prone. In addition, in Graziano Pellè, a veteran is expected to join coach Roberto D’Aversa’s team. The former Southampton striker is out of contract at Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan and is expected to sign with the Gialloblu until the end of the season.
