Shaq Moore leaves Tenerife for Nashville SC - Most expensive defender in club history
US men's national team player Shaq Moore has returned to the United States. On Tuesday, Major League Soccer side Nashville SC announced the signing of the 25-year-old right-back from LaLiga2 side Tenerife. Moore has signed a contract until 2025 with a club option for 2026.
Tenerife will receive $2 million; the most Nashville has paid for a defender in club history (overview). As part of the deal, CF Montréal will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for the player's discovery rights. “Shaq has all of the positive attributes that we look for on both sides of the ball, as well as on and off the field,” Nashville SC general manager Mike Jacobs said in a club statement. “He has the ability to be a key contributor in our group, and we are so pleased to have him join us here in Nashville.”
Moore has never played professionally in the United States. The 25-year-old has spent his entire professional career in Spain, playing the last seasons with CD Tenerife, where he managed one goal and eight assists in 101 games across all competitions.
